United Airlines Baggage Policy

Each passenger ready to board in the United flight is permitted to take one cabin bag (also known as a carry-on bag) and one personal item(Laptop, Purse, Briefcase, etc.). However, the basic economy passengers are just allowed one personal item on-board for no charges.
United Airlines Baggage Weight Limit
Cabin Baggage Allowance
Whatever you carry as your cabin bag, ensure it is fit to be moved under the seat or in the overhead storage. As far as the size is concerned, your check-in baggage cannot exceed the size 9 x 14 x 22 inches including wheels and handles.
Check-In Baggage Allowance
As far as check-in luggage is concerned, a passenger on a US domestic flight with an economy ticket will need to pay an additional fee of $30 for the first checked bag and $40 for the second. The amount for the checked baggage may vary according to the route. 50 pounds weight is considered to be the maximum, permitted by the airlines. Similarly, the maximum dimensions for the same remain 62 linear inches.
The passengers of the Premium Economy, Business, and First Class can check up to two bags for free. The weight limit per bag is 50 pounds for the premium economy passengers. However, the first and business-class passengers are allowed up to 70 pounds per bag.
On being overweight, extra charges would be applied by the airlines based on the weight and size of the bag.
United Airlines Baggage Fee

The first and second checked bags comply with standard check baggage fees charged by the Airlines. The fees vary according to the different traveling locations.
- If you are traveling within the United States, you would need to pay $35.00 USD on first checked baggage and $45.00 USD on second checked baggage. The charges will be determined by the type of fare you purchased, your destination, and if you are traveling as an active US military personnel and/or dependent.
- The charges for the third bag or further additional bags would be $150.00 USD each, depending on the route.
- On international flights, you would be allowed your first checked baggage at absolutely free cost. However, your second checked baggage would cost you around $100.0.
- On traveling in the basic economy even on the international United flight, you would need to pay $60.00 USD on your first checked luggage. On your second bag, you would be charged $100.00 USD.
Overweight Baggage Fees
If the bag weight is more than 23 kilograms or 50 pounds but between 24 to 32 kilograms or 51 to 70 pounds on U.S. domestic flights, you would need to pay $100 USD to $200 USD (depending on the route), per overweight bag.
If the bag weight is between 33 to 46 kilograms or 71 to 100 pounds, you would need to pay an additional $400 USD per overweight bag.
Over and above 71 to 100-pound bags would not be accepted.
Oversize Baggage Fees
United Airlines charges $200.00 USD extra per oversize bag. You are only allowed the bags whose size range between 63 and 115 linear inches, i.e. 160-292 centimeters. Bags would not be allowed beyond this size.

United Airlines Baggage Claim
